I was born and brought up on a farm in the small rural parish of Mamhilad in the South Wales valleys.
I always loved art and I think that living on an isolated farm led me to spend a lot of my time painting and drawing whilst my 'urban' friends played outside!
I attended Newport Art College in the late 1970's, but did not further my career at that time as I was too interested in becoming a hippy!!! I married and had two children in the 1980's and my artwork took a back seat for many years. However, since my children have left home I have resumed painting, and now enjoy the privilege of being able to paint almost every day.
If you would like to visit my studio and gallery, you are very welcome at any time, though if you are travelling any distance I would appreciate a phone call first, so that I can ensure the Gallery is open!
My art work has evolved over the years from pencil drawings and carefully worked landscapes, into a much freer and bolder style. I like to paint life as I see it around me and I hope that my work portrays the emotions behind the pictures.
My inspirations for painting are many and varied. The Old Masters provided a platform from which art has spread it's wings and present day artists that inspire me now include Paula Rego, whose marvelous bold style I admire greatly, Aneurin Jones who produces wonderfully atmospheric paintings of Welsh characters, Kurt Jackson and Goff Danter to name but a few.
